There's an
article in today's Guardian, written by one of the Soviet soldiers who liberated Auschwitz. It's a pretty stark account and gives a picture of the terrible condition the prisoners must have been in: they were the people the Nazis hadn't bothered shipping out, and the soldiers, who were in a state themselves, were horrified at what they found.
